In the heart of the Louvre Museum, the Apollo Gallery offers a decor of an extraordinary richness. 60 metres long and 12 metres high, paintings, sculptures and gilded wood join together to celebrate the sun god Apollo.
This grandiose decor conceived by Charles Le Brun to mark the beginning of Louis XIV's reign was finally completed in 1851 on the eve of the Second Empire with the magnificent Appolo Slays Python by Eugene Delacroix.
The Apollo Gallery is a stage on which some of the great events of French history have been played out: political as well as artistic.
Filmed over more than two years, Jerome Prieur's film takes us on a journey from beginning to end through this immense restoration site, introducing us to this wonderful gallery as we've never seen it before.
