Amongst the many very special places 'Held In Trust' by the Nation Trust For Scotland are mountains and islands, gardens, gorges and waterfalls, castles, stately homes, follies and folk museums.

In this definitive series produced by STV and hosted by Diana Rigg, we visit many of the greatest properties owned and conserved by the Trust, who are dedicated to preserving Scotland's rich heritage for future generations.

In contrast to the wildernesses of the Highlands are the rich lands of castles and mighty houses of the North East and Central Scotland. Diana guides us on a tour of superb buildings and estates, many still inhabited by ancient Scottish families, and containing art and treasures collected over centuries from all over the world.
