Sheffield To Nottingham

The former Great Central Railway Main Line from Sheffield Victoria to London Marylebone closed to through traffic on the 3rd of September, 1966 and the views in this programme show some of the numerous lines and intensive traffic flows that are no more.

At Oughtibridge, 1500v DC electric services were filmed, transporting coal and iron ore over the Woodhead Route. After views at Sheffield's Victoria Station and Wards Scrap Yards at Woodhouse and Beighton, we leave on a Special Train travelling via Langwith Jc and take the ex-Great Northern Line to Nottingham Victoria Station. Here, much of the traffic was handled by Class B1, O4, 8F, 9Fs and C15.

Joining another train from Sheffield, we travel round the Chesterfield Loop to Heath Jct. and return to Nottingham Victoria via Annesley, Linby and Bulwell.
