This DVD introduces us to one of England's oldest and most interesting cities.

It opens with the story of the Romano-British martyr saint to whom it owes its name. There follows a complete tour of the beautiful abbey looking at it's architecture, history and life in the present day.

We then explore the city itself, tracing it's origins to the important Roman city of Verulamium and find out how it's inhabitants lived 1700 years ago.

In addition to it's history, we discover interesting old pubs, ghosts, the market, the Garden of the Rose, local theatre, people and it's place in today's world as a busy, growing and prosperous city full of life and colour.
