History was made in Hong Kong when the USA defended their Athens Olympics team Show Jumping title, winning the first ever jump off for Gold at an Olympic Games, against Canada.

"To build a course which causes a jump off for Gold is beyond a dream come true", enthused the course designer.

In the individual Show Jumping competition, 10 horses jumped clear in the first round but only 2 would do the double.

With the jump off against the clock, Eric Lamaze and Hickstead (CAN) were always the favourites over Sweden's Rolf Goran Bengtsson on Ninja and were worthy winners of the Gold with Beezie Madden (USA) and Authentic grabbing the Bronze to add to her team Gold.
