Germany lost their invincibility to the Netherlands at the 2007 FEI European Dressage Championships, so all eyes were on these two dressage teams for the Gold and Silver with the USA, Denmark, Sweden and Great Britain battling for Bronze. With only 3 riders allowed in each dressage team, this gave added drama to the competition as no scores could be discarded.

The Netherlands had the worst possible draw going first with Hans Peter Minderhoud on Nadine and after he failed to break 70% and Heike Kemmer on Bonaparte scored 72.25%, Germany were well on their way, although Nadine Capellmann on Elvis VA only just scored a 70% mark. When Isabell Werth came into the arena, she knew she would have to have a disaster not to take Gold for her country and showed her class on Satchmo with the best score of the competition. Germany had reasserted themselves as the top dressage nation again.

Denmark proved the steadiest of the other teams to grab Bronze in the heat and humidity after the USA slipped from 2nd to 5th after their second rider and couldn't recover.
