For the first time, Badminton was held over a Bank Holiday weekend with dressage starting on the Friday and Show Jumping on the Bank Holiday Monday.

83 combinations competed at the 61st running of the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, representing 11 Nations and for the third time in the last 5 years, Australia came out on top as Paul Tapner confirmed his early season form with a win on Jenny Waaler's Inonothing.

This was a Badminton where the cross country proved the most influential of the 3 disciplines as many top riders fell foul of Hugh Thomas' demanding course and the tried and tested combinations came out on top.
