THE SHETLANDS
Outer Islands 2009

Produced by PMP Transport Films and shot and produced by Dave Spencer, this programme is something just a little bit different from our usual pure transport coverage.

We take a spring journey up to the north of Britain to the Shetland Isles, starting at the southern most parts of Mainland, we pass through Lerwick taking the first bus scenes, before flying to Fair Isle.

On to Mainland with plenty of bus scenes here before taking ferries as we travel between islands on the way to Fetlar.

Then, perhaps the finale was the trip to the most easterly islands in the group, the Outer Skerries. On the way, the ferry took part in an air and sea rescue exercise, just one of the many extraordinary features in this programme, which encompasses rarely seen islands, aircraft, buses and ferries!
