In this second hour-long DVD tour of some of the finest historical sites in England in the care of English Heritage, we visit the majestic hilltop ruins of Bolsover Castle in Derbyshire; Down House in Kent, the home of Charles Darwin for 40 years, from where the great scientist wrote 'On the Origin of Species'; and the medieval ruins of one of east England's best-preserved priories, Castle Acre in Norfolk.
We also explore the great Isle of Wight fortress of Carisbrooke Castle, where Charles I spent his last days before being executed; the Victorian splendour of Brodsworth Hall in South Yorkshire; and Henry II`s towering castle at Orford on the Suffolk coast.
En route, we reveal the treasures of Walmer Castle in Kent, where the Queen Mother often stayed; the 12th century Framlingham Castle in Suffolk topped by its famous Tudor chimneys; and the splendour of one of Norman England's most important strongholds at Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire... a visual feast of history which can be enjoyed again and again.
