The southern Tillage 2005 event took place at Tetbury, Glos. on a cold grey day in mid-September. The exhibition site was rated grade three Cotswold brash - a hard and abrasive soil.
This was a day of large kit and high horse-power. Kverneland had their CT Stubble Finisher (£60,000) hitched to a 600hp Cat MT 875B Challenger.
The widest piece of cultivation kit on display was Quivogne's Mega Finisher (£44,100). With a 9m working width and weighing l1 tonnes it requires a minimum of 300hp.
Case IH had their World Ploughing record holder Quadtrac STX 500 connected to a Simba Solo cultivation train. John Deere had their Autotrac tractors working with Gregoire-Besson ploughs and cultivators, these included the 8520 and 9520 models fitted with John Deere's new H-Trac system.
