ONSLOW'S WORKING FIELD 2006

The tractor working field at the Onslow Park Steam Engine Rally is in, the opinion of the entrants, one of the best in the country.

The main attraction for 2006 was the re-enactment of the 1921 Shrewsbury Tractor Trails. The idea had been put forward by Robert Crawford at the 2005 Rally. The original trails attracted 40 entrants from 7 countries. Virtually all of the manufacturers at the 1921 Trails have disappeared and in some instances not one of their products has survived.

Thanks to the tenacity of Working Field Organiser, Brian Smith, a large number of very rare tractors were present at Onslow Park in 2006. Samson, Parrett, Saunderson, British Wallis and Peterboro were some of more unusual names from 1921 along with the more familiar Austin, Case, Fiat, Hart-Parr, International and Fowler.

The rest of the event is covered including Mike Lawrence's 1954 Jones Invicta Self Propelled Baler. The sound of two P6 engined Fordson E27Ns on the tractor pulling is not to be missed!
