Around 30 vehicles travelled from Fishguard to Rosslare for the strangely named Heart of Wales Irish Road Run, a seven-day tour of the South of Ireland. Irish entrants increased the number of participating vehicles to 40. This was the third such run organised by Heart of Wales Run organiser John Boughey and his enthusiastic team aided by O'Donovan Transport and Billy Keily.

Participants were treated to some spectacular scenery and great climbs, made all the more enjoyable by some great weather. Healy Pass, Keimaneigh Pass, Blarney Woollen Mills, The Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsular and Molls Gap were all on the itinerary.

Vehicles ranged from Tom Henderson's 1930 Guy Model ON through to Paddy Brennan's Mack R600, one of six right-hand drive 6x4s produced for Ireland Roadstone. Billy Keily's 1974 Guy Big J, Nick Carter's 1969 Foden S36 8 wheeler and Tadhg and Mary Buckley's DAF 2800 were all taking part in their first road run.
